Day 2 – The Royal Scotsman

Start your whisky adventure at Edinburgh's prestigious Balmoral Hotel, where a whisky ambassador will welcome you with a dram. Depart from Edinburgh Waverley station, crossing the Firth of Forth via the awe-inspiring Forth Rail Bridge. As the scenic Kingdom of Fife unfolds, enjoy an afternoon tea complemented by an exclusive whisky tasting session led by expert and writer, Charles MacLean. With his extensive knowledge, Charles will guide both novices and connoisseurs through the subtleties of whisky, sharing insights from his 18 published books on this cherished spirit.

Day 3 – Kyle of Lochalsh

The journey continues along the Kyle Line, one of the most picturesque railway routes in the UK. Marvel at the breathtaking landscapes of Loch Luichart and the Torridon mountains. The Royal Scotsman weaves through the Highlands, passing idyllic locales like coastal Plockton on the way to Kyle of Lochalsh, the gateway to the Isle of Skye. The day concludes with a formal dinner and entertainment in the Observation Car, where you can enjoy liqueurs amid stunning views.

Day 4 – Carrbridge

Awake to a hearty Scottish breakfast as you head towards Carrbridge. Engage in a special single-cask tasting in the Observation Car and later visit the historic Tomatin Distillery, which has been producing Highland single malts since 1897. Discover the crafting secrets of produce and indulge in a tutored tasting session. The day concludes over an informal dinner on board, with local musicians providing entertainment as you relax with a nightcap.

Day 5 – Rothiemurchus

After breakfast, a coach takes you to beautiful Rothiemurchus Estate, nestled in the Cairngorms National Park, for a morning of outdoor activities like archery or fly fishing. Afterwards, savour lunch aboard the train as it heads south. The afternoon features a VIP tour of Tullibardine Distillery in Blackford, where you'll sample directly from the cask. The day's journey concludes with a formal dinner and Scottish country dancing on the platform at Dundee station, celebrating your whisky journey in true Scottish style.

Homeward bound

Day 6 – Homeward bound

Your final day begins as you cross the Tay Bridge into Fife, returning to Edinburgh. Over a full Scottish breakfast shared with fellow travellers, reflect on a week of unforgettable experiences and the majestic beauty of Scotland, all enriched by the warmth of its whisky.
